Hi Guys sorry I have not been blogging for a while but things have been a little busy. We have a new home which is great ...we have 6 fields and our own menage. My family have really gone to town to find me and Millie such a beautiful home with all the facilities.
Now to the good news after a 260 mile round trip to the Nationals today and nearly being to late for my ring....I did the business and improved on last years result of 4th. Yes guys I came 3rd at the championships and my family are over the moon considering this is only my second season at showing and I have been placed in two national appearances.
We are now taking some time off and relaxing has in the next few months my family are going to finish my breaking and schooling so I can go under saddle.
Lastly please come back soon to see some photos from todays national of me and my family, has soon as my dad develops the film.
All the best til next time Love Rififi x

Well me and my family are a little disappointed with a 4th place again at Derby.
It seems current judges trends are that they seem to be picking winners and placed horses that have the minimum of welsh blood in there lines...and seem to be going for stocky and well built types whos Mothers are mainly true horse blood types. So in a nutshell winners have a small % of welsh blood ' something like 15% or so.
So we made the rosettes again and placed 4th like last year so not all is bad...we have to remember we are competing at county level and not club level, so a placing in this type of show is a result ' thats for sure '
The day went well....I travelled well, boxed with no fuss and performed in the ring. The weather was beautiful all day and I consumed plenty of water during the day.
I am now on the grass at home and chilling out for a while as we need to find a new home but come back soon to read any news and see if I turnout for a show before the Nationals at the end of August.
Til next time Love Always Rififi x

Been a while readers since I last posted but hey I'm here now. Been busy over winter and my family have been introducing me to saddle and my mum as backed me on a dozen or soocassions...so its going well.
I make my first show appearence next week at the Derby County were I hope I will improve on last years placing of 4th. I am a little bigger and more mature this year so hopefully the judges will like me more.
Check back next week to see how I did at Derby and to catch up on all the news...as it will be along day and up early for the trip.....so I hope all goes well.
Til next week love Rififi x

well it's been a while since I last posted any blog so I thought I would bring you up to date. I have been on the grass with millie since my last show wintering off and my coat is almost like a teddy bear.
At the end of October a very nice lady is coming to break me to saddle and give me some lessons she will be visiting once a week and teaching me all I need to know of course my Dad will be there too.
We also hopefully have a rider for me for next season so in-hand and under saddle for 2010 looks promising if all goes well.
Millies doing well to and my Dad will be working with her during the winter months so she may well make the show ground too next year.
Any way guys come back soon and I promise I will not leave it to long before I post a update and hopefully some new photos.
Love you all Rififi xxx
oh I nearly forgot my owner Simone has started riding lessons on a little shetland so who knows she may ride me soon!

my family have decided that work will now be concentrated on breaking me and finding a rider for me for next season.
I have really enjoyed my first showing season and have got some great experience. My family are really happy with my results and I have more than exceeded my familys goals for my first showing season. There maybe one or two smaller shows that I will be entered in at the last minute so come back often to see any new news.
Coming soon will be some new pics of me and my stable mate Mille enjoying our relaxtion at home. Millie will also be given her own page and photo gallery on my site so come back soon guys to see my beautiful stable mate Millie who is 10 years old and a part-bred arab bay mare.
My family also saved Millie at the age of 5 who when purchased had barely seen a human and was on grass for her first 4 years alone after weaning. Millie is a on-going work for my family and was not broke til she was 9 years old. Millie has several issues and behaviour problems but she is loved and cared for the same has me.
Hopefully Millie will be making her first show appearence in-hand later this year and under saddle next season ' which at one time would have been a miracle ' but after continual work she is coming good and it looks has if she may find the show ring at some point in the future.
Thanx guys for visiting regular and come back soon.

well what a great show I had at my very first National. I was originally placed 3rd but knocked down as the judge would have like to have seen me walk straighter...but hey my family and me are well happy with a 4th place rosette at national level.
It was a really good experience and a fine result in my first showing season. It was also good to be judged with others that are all below 128cm high.
I am now on the grass enjoying some time off and will be making my next show appearence all being well in about 2 weeks. So check back soon guys to see any new news ... catch you all later. Ho I nearly forgot sorry no pics my Dad forgot his camera...But when my dad gets the time he will be taking some portraits of me with my rosette for all my readers to see on my web site.

well it is the welsh national show in the morning and after a solid week of rain it has been pretty hard for my groom to get me ready.. ' dodging the weather with mid-week grooming ' He has worked really hard to get me in good show condition even thou it as been a struggle with the weather.
First thing this morning I was let out on the grass to chill for a hour but it was not long before the rain began , so I was brought in and given a shower down, and put in my stable with a cooler on to stop me from getting a chill with 2 lovely big hay nets. Once I had dried of my feet hair aroung the top of my hooves ' coronet ' and my face were trimmed up. I was gloss sprayed all over and dandy brushed up and fitted with my clean stable sheet , so when it is taken off in the morning I will be really shiny. My groom also put some electrolytes in my drinking water so I dont become dehydrated from travelling.
I will be tucked up for the night with a hay net around 8 pm has I need to be plaited, have my hooves varnished and be loaded before 4 am in the morning. I have about a 2 hour journey so I hope I travel well and my class is the first one in the morning at 8 am.
This is the most important show in my agenda for the year and I take 3 very good shows of experience with me. We are not expecting any miracles has this show will find the best part bred welsh in the country , but a rosette would be nice after all the hard work that has gone into my preparation and training in my very first showing year.
Check back soon guys to see how I did at the Nationals and to see if I was placed amongst the best in the country.

What a day early start with my plaiting at 9am this morning and at the Macclesfield and District Show ground for 12 noon. My family entered me in the in-hand best gelding class and used this event as a warm up for the welsh nationals in August.
I came of the box a good hour before my class and my dad and trainer / groom got me in top show fettle and warmed me up ready for the class. My class was called at 2.00 pm and I entered the ring with my mum. There was some very good company in a rather large class but the judge picked me straight out after seeing my movements and awarded me the Best Gelding in the in-hand class 30.
Me and my family really enjoyed the win and celebrated with a photo shoot for my first class win. Hopefully I can take this great experience to the welsh nationals and perform well there. Checkout my celebrations photos in my Photo Gallery.
I returned home and was turned out with Millie to enjoy some lush grass and to chill out after a wonderful day. Check back soon to see new updates and maybe another show before the nationals could be on the cards.

Theres quite a few classes I can enter but I will be going only in one class in the late afternoon thus allowing plenty of time for preparation and travel.
Check back soon guys to see if I made the show and to catch up on any news from this event.

well Millie and I have moved into our new home it's great with big stables and lots of lush grass ' just what I need for some conditioning before the Welsh Nationals in August. We moved this weekend on Saturday and spent the first night in our new stables and all day Sunday on the grass. We are both getting some rest for the rest of this week then I am going to be broke to saddle and lighly worked for my next show in 4 weeks.
My family are looking for a competent rider that can show me under saddle and bring me on ' they must be a very good rider as I have beautiful paces and I cover the ground very fast ' I will also need to be brought on to jump so if anybody knows a very good rider who would like to ride me and go to the very top please contact my family.
Check back soon to see what as been happening....

well my family have been chasing up my bloodlines so I could be registered as a partbred arab allowing me more class eligibility. It turns out that I have 9% arab blood from my dad and 12% is needed to be registered as a partbred arab. Of course I am disappointed but this now makes my family and me more determined to do well in the classes I can go in...
Check back often guys for new updates and new pics of our new home that we move to on the 4th July.

Hi guys ...well I travelled a little better to the Derby County Show on the 28th June 09 but my trainer has decided I need some electrolytes before and after travelling as this will help in replacing salts after exercise, showing and travel.
It was a great day glorious sun shine all day long, a little too warm thou for my family and other competitors. My family met a very nice family Lesley Hall and her dad Ken, who gave my owners some super sound advice which led to me making the placings ' thats for sure ' I recieved some very nice comments from alot of people all day and it was great to be appreciated after a long 2 1/2 hour journey.
Well I behaved very well and trotted and walked and stood nicely still in the ring. I think coming off the box about a hour before my class helped me settle down...I entered the ring and again the judge looked me over straight away several times. My trainer and groom got me once again in good quality show standard and me and my mum / handler looked a very clean and tidy act. The judge started to make his choices and I was thinking no luck today in my second show appearance as he seemed to pick out the more welshy types...but the judge gave me my chance and appreciated my front movements and awarded me a 4th place rosette and some pennies to help towards my costs.
My family and me are over the moon that in my second show and at county level I have made the placings and off the mark with hopefully a bright show future career ahead of me. After long discussions with my trainers friend he as decided to register me with the partbred arab society thus allowing me to be shown in welsh and arab classes also I will be making a appearence in the riding pony and breeding classes with other show type ponies like me soon.
Well it's a deserved rest for me now as we are moving to our new home at the weekend so it will be a little play time and some work to get ready for the Welsh Nationals in the first week of August.
I would like to thank Lesley and Ken who have been in the showing world for 30 years for there kind comments and invaluable advice they gave to my family, which will be taken onboard and introduced to my training schedule in the future.

Well after many set backs I eventually made my show debut at the Cheshire County Show on the 23rd June 09. It was a very long day and a 4am start to arrive at 6.45am to get a good spot. I did not travel well and being boxed was all new, but I am sure it will get easier the more times I am transported.
It was a really warm day and my class was called at 11.30am. I came of the box looking in fine fettle as my Trainer Mr Smith worked really hard for several hours to get me looking in good show standard.
Well I was a good boy when being shown to begin with and the judge cast his eye over me several times. I trotted and walk in good order with my tail well up in the air. Unfortunately when it came to standing still I really was naughty and did not do as I was told by my Mummy and Handler. The judge spoke to my handler and asked if I was being a touch to much on my toe's. This naughty behaviour cost me a rosette by one place on my debut so it is back to work after a days rest for the Derby County Show this weekend.
Overall my family and me and my future rider and handler Simone had a great day. We have learnt alot from the experience and there is no reason I should not improve in the future with more training and show experience. Please check out any photograp-hs of me in my Photo Gallery at the Cheshire Show. My trainer also got some beautiful photographs of other competitors at this show so check them out CLICK HERE
